Category: Let's talk
I'm so freakin' excited! When I had my home interview with GDB at the beginning of November, I was told that there was a 13 month waiting list for class dates. I got a call today and have been given a class date in May at the Oregon campus.
Congratulations.
Congradulations and good luck.
So exciting!!!!
Any desires about the kind of dog you might get?
What are some things you want to do first with it once you get to do whatever you want/
What will be the first toy you think you will get it?
Woohoo! Weather will be lovely in May; it's a perfect time to go.
Hmm, I'll guess that you get a yellow boy. *smile*
Take him a Jolly Bone, the 6 inch size is perfect for a labrador. It's rubbery, like Kong toys, but IMO an easier shape for them to carry around, and not painful to step on, for you.
Sweetness.
Oh, and it's early to be talking about this, I know, but if you're open to having visitors while your there, and if the school permits it, let me know if you'd like us to drop in for a short visit! That would be so much fun. You'll be just one state over; I'd hate to miss the opportunity to meet. *smile* I know you're time will be limited, though. I think you're only there for two weeks, right?
having just returned fro the California campus, I can tell you that you'll love the experience!!!!! the new training is so intense and interesting. it's amazing the changes that have been made sine I was ther in 10. good luck and i'll be praying for you!!!
Thanks, everyone.
Yep, those rubbery bones are the best. Digby had one that lasted for ever. I'd love to meet up with yall. We'll play it by ear though as there's only one day of rest during the 2 weeks I'm there. I want to meet you and your hubs in person and I'll want to snuggle the babies. *smile*
I've always had yellow boys and that is what I'd like again. I'll take whatever I get though and love him or her to pieces.
It's been several years since I last trained with a dog. I understand allot has changed so I'm a bit nervous. In a way it's good that I haven't worked a dog in a while though because I won't be expecting my new dog to behave like my former guides. That was a really hard transition when I went directly from one guide to his successor.
Grats, Oregon is beautiful in May.
My only concern is how to pack. When I went before, it was in June. I got there and is was 52 degrees. I just about froze my butt off because I was dressed for Texas weather as it was 965 or so when I got on the plane. lol
By the end of the 3 weeks I was there, they were having a record heat wave and it was 100 degrees. lol I guess I'll pack outfits that will work with layors. lol
